How do I join the Slack channel?

When I try to join your slack channel I get the following message:

You can use any account with the domain:

Can I not just join using my work email? I find slack’s account system very confusing in general, but this is extra confusing.

Thanks joakimwar for asking the problem which I had faced two days back and many thanks to kyle for the answer. I am also able to join the channel now!
